Official name of FAO in Spanish

Please note that the 37^th Session of the FAO Conference approved the proposed change of the official name of FAO in Spanish so that the word “food” should precede the word “agriculture”, for the sake of consistency among the designations of the Organization in other language versions.

Therefore, the new official name of FAO in Spanish is:  Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura.

Se ruega tomar nota de que, en su 37.º período de sesiones, la Conferencia de la FAO aprobó la propuesta de cambiar el nombre oficial de la FAO en español de manera que la palabra “alimentación” precediera a la palabra “agricultura”, a fin de mantener la coherencia con las designaciones de la Organización en los otros idiomas.
Por consiguiente, la nueva denominación oficial en español es: Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura.
