The European Society for Translation Studies (EST) has signed an agreement with the American Translation and Interpreting Studies Association (ATISA)
The protocol of understanding recognizes the common aims and interests of the two organizations.
ATISA encourages, supports, and furthers the study of translation and interpreting studies by disseminating knowledge and research relevant to all areas of language mediation, specifically translation and interpreting. It holds conferences every two years and publishes the journal Translation and Interpreting Studies (TIS).
The agreement was signed by Claudia Angelelli, President of ATISA, and Anthony Pym, President of the EST, on January 8, 2011. It opens the way for exchanges of information and reciprocal attendance at conferences.
